| First impressions are important, so don't
let yourself down by dressing down. Make an effort but also dress
for the occassion, i.e you wouldn't wear track suit bottoms when going
out for a formal dinner. |
| Everyone likes to be complimented, even
if they won't admit it! It's always a good idea to start the date
off with "you look great!" Be genuine as there's a fine
line between a nice compliment and a cheesy come-on! |
Be confident. Don't sit with all limbs
crossed. If your date leans in, do the same. You'll be surprised how
subconsciously receptive you are to other people's body language.
Men - open doors and pull out chairs
Women - appreciate it! |
| Try not to be self-involved and ask questions about
what your date likes... and listen! It always helps to be able to
find something in common with eachother, e.g a place you've both visited
or a move you've both seen. Basically just keep it pleasant. Best
to keep off the ex-partner topic! |
| If you're eating out, choose your food carefully. Eat
something you're comfortable with, but don't always go for Indian!
And when choosing what to have, try to avoid foods that will make
your breath smell! |
| DON'T GET TOO DRUNK! Many people like to have a few
drinks to settle the nerves and become more relaxed, but if you take
it too far you run the risk of making a fool of yourself. |
| Try and keep your phone
off, or at least on silent. No one wants to sit there while you make
calls to someone else or start texting. It shows lack of attention
to the person you are with. |
| Hopefully you'll get on great at our Event
Night and the next step will be to meet up on your own, but always
remember to remain cautious. Meet in a public place that you know
well and let someone know where you are going and what time you should
be back. Initially, don't get picked up from your home address. Remember
to trust you instincts, they are often right. |
